Empowerment Programmes

Students Empowerment Programmes

St Michael’s School offers abundant opportunity for the students for their growth and development. Apart from co- curricular activiteies like sports, youth festival, club activities etc, we conduct many empowerment programmes. Students are given regular training in yoga. These programmes give students more confidence and help them to give better performance.

Life Guidance and Leadership Camps

During the summer vacation students who passed from 9th standard are given camps in order to prepare them for the 10th standard. Plus one students are given an orientation programme in the beginning of the academic year. Topics like leadership, study techniques, self-awareness, social awareness, motivation, values etc are discussed in the camps. Interactive and participative methods involving games, exercises, discussions etc are used in the camps. Also different clubs and voluntary organizations conduct their own camps for students.

Out reach Programmes

Students are taken to old age homes and orphanages so that they will get a direct knowledge about the life of the poor. This will help them to be more compassionate to the poor and the suffering. Students often distribute clothes and stationery items to the inmates.

Remedial Coaching

Remedial coaching is conducted for the weaker students. This coaching will take place after the regular class. Separate classes are mainly arranged for high school and plus two students.

Tutorial

An important aspect of school education is accompanying the students. Because of the large number of students this is not possible. In order to give more attention to students they are divided into small groups and the teachers give them more personal care. This gives lot of personal touch in the formation.

Study Tours

Study tours are arranged mainly for the students of std 10 and plus two. Other classes also arrange short trips.

Eco- Awareness programmes

Different kinds of eco-awareness programmes are conducted in the school. Twice or thrice in an academic year, massive campus cleaning programmes are arranged involving the entire students of the school. Segragation and disposal of different kinds of waste is done. Many trees are planted every year.

Staff Empowerment Programmes

St Michael’s school and JEA (Jesuit Educational Association) organize different staff development programmes. Every year classes and seminars are conducted for teachers by Jesuits or scholars from out side. The new teachers are given orientation on Jesuit education by Jesuit scholars and educationists. These classes are very well appreciated by the teachers. They also actively participate in the programmes organized by the Department.
